Terms and Conditions
Effective date: October 27, 2026
Please read these terms before using our retirement planning tools and educational resources. They explain the scope of the service, your responsibilities and important limitations.
1. Using RetireSmartCA
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of RetireSmartCA’s website, calculators, educational content and account features. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement in your jurisdiction.
2. Educational use, not professional advice
Our content and tools provide general information and illustrative retirement-planning estimates for Canadians. They are not financial, investment, tax, legal, pension or accounting advice, and do not create an adviser-client or fiduciary relationship. Consult qualified professionals familiar with your circumstances before acting. Read our Disclaimer for additional information.
3. Calculations, assumptions and limitations
Results depend on your inputs and the simplified assumptions described in each tool. Tax schedules, pension rules, benefit amounts, withdrawal factors, market conditions and legislation can change. Projections may omit circumstances relevant to you, and some future values are assumptions rather than published rules.
Terms such as “optimized,” “recommended,” “safe,” or “break-even” describe model outputs within the tested assumptions, not a guarantee of the best outcome, lower tax, investment performance or adequate retirement income. Future returns, annuity estimates and third-party data are not guaranteed. Verify information with official sources and your financial institution.
4. Accounts and your information
Provide accurate account information and keep your credentials and verification codes confidential. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account and should notify us of suspected unauthorized access. Only submit information you are entitled to use, and avoid unnecessary sensitive identifiers. Saved scenarios may contain personal financial information. Their handling is described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Permitted and prohibited use
You may use the service for lawful personal planning and reference. Do not attempt unauthorized access, bypass security or usage limits, interfere with availability, distribute malicious software, impersonate others, collect other users’ information, or use the service for unlawful or deceptive purposes. Automated extraction or redistribution must not infringe rights, compromise privacy or disrupt the service.
6. Content, ownership and your plans
RetireSmartCA and its licensors retain rights in the site’s original content, software, branding and design. You retain rights in information you submit and permit us and our service providers to process it as needed to operate the features you use. You may download or print your own planning results for personal use and share them with your advisers. This does not grant rights to resell the service or reproduce its protected content commercially without permission.
7. Third-party links and services
Links to government, financial institution and other websites are provided for reference, not as endorsements. We do not control their content, security, availability or practices. Third-party sign-in, analytics and optional data or AI-assisted lookups are subject to the relevant providers’ terms and policies. Verify retrieved information independently.
8. Availability and changes to the service
Features, content and assumptions may be updated, limited or discontinued. The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, technical problems or events outside our control. We may restrict access for misuse or security reasons, subject to applicable law. Keep independent copies of important plans; saved scenarios are not a substitute for your financial records.
9. No guarantees
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability or freedom from errors. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Limitations of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, RetireSmartCA and its operators are not liable for indirect, consequential or special losses, lost profits, lost opportunities or loss of data arising from use of, or inability to use, the service or reliance on its estimates. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law and do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including applicable liability for fraud or wilful misconduct. You remain responsible for your financial decisions.
11. Applicable law and your rights
Applicable Canadian federal and provincial or territorial laws govern as required by law. Nothing in these terms takes away mandatory consumer or privacy rights, or limits access to a court or regulator where those rights cannot lawfully be restricted. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
12. Updates and questions
We may revise these terms and update the effective date. Material changes will be communicated, and consent sought where required by law. Review the current terms when using the service. For questions or concerns, contact RetireSmartCA through our contact page.
